Probablemente don Antonio Mairena lo habría "excomulgado" de haber podido, pero, ya desaparecido, el arte de este sevillano crece con el tiempo. Al margen de toda "ley" mairenista, este jerezano genial, despreciado por muchos en su tiempo por "traicionar" al cante jondo con la ópera flamenca, fue tan flamenco en todo lo que hizo que incluso cuando se salía de los cánones (casi siempre) llenaba el aire de emoción y duende. Ha dejado un estilo: el caracolero. Para poner los vellos de punta. Aparece con su familia, en su casa madrileña, y en su propio tablao junto a su yerno, el pianista Arturo Pavón.
