| Hermann y Dorotea (52') Hermann, hijo de unos hoteleros pueblerinos ha sido enviado a socorrer a los pobladores fronterizos del otro lado del Rhin, entre los que se encuentra la joven Dorotea. Los padres de Hermann planean su matrimonio con Lisette, una bella vecina, pero él, que se ha enamorado de la bella furtiva, no está de acuerdo. Su madre le apoyará e intentarán convencer al padre; así, piden a Dorotea que viva con ellos para ayudarles en las labores domésticas y ésta accede.
