| Macbeth y Banco, generales de Duncan, Rey de
Escocia, encuentran, al regreso de una victoriosa campaña, tres brujas
que profetizan que Macbeth llegará a ser Rey y que Banco engendrará
reyes aunque él no esté destinado a serlo. Lady Macbeth, tras la predicción, excita la ambición de su esposo y éste asesina a Duncan mientras duerme, produciéndole inmediatamente un hondo remordimiento. Los hijos de Duncan huyen y él se apodera de la corona. Recordando la profecía decide asesinar a Banco, pero su hijo Fleance logra escapar. La profecía se cumplirá, pues tras ser asesinado Macbeth, Malcom, hijo , de Duncan, sube al trono. |
